Do you have a Domain doc for company.com? If you do then just append faxgate.company.com and bingo you are working. (you may have to restart the smtp task)

Now if you are trying to do this for a faxgate. Most addin products work by using a FOREIGN DOMAIN document. Which would give an internet address of person@phonenumber@faxdomain. Usually the document of the fax product explain this.
